I just looked at at the tentative schedule. Prechamp and champ standard on Friday night? Looks like I'll have to dust off my latin shoes and do a round of syllabus 6-dance to be elligible for Nationals.

WHAT, I can't take a day off from work. It's always been a weekend comp!!! well I hope standard starta after 9:30.. wishful thinking...

Yeah I saw that a few days ago - it's pretty stupid! Clearly the organizers care nothing about couples other than NY/NJ couples using their competitions as a qualifier.

And I doubt they'll start any standard events after 9:30 considering the session starts at 6pm. They would be stupid not to interleave events.

I also am going to have to decide between taking a day off of work, or just doing syllabus-6 dance. Neither is a very attractive option. I hate the schedule. I'm sure they have a very good reason for making it Fri./Sat. instead of Sat./Sun. I'd be very interested in hearing what that reason is.

I think Sunday is almost a full day junior/youth event, isn't it? Sort of like junior MAC. Was there anything on friday last year? It must be the darn WC events that push the schedule to friday.

They managed to do that at MAC (not that it was good since it was on a weekend but still ).. Will ask Wendy about that...

Where did you find the schedule? I found entry forms but no schedule. Its probably right in front of me but I can't find it.

Yes, that appears to be both the problem and perhaps the solution.

The problem is that there are now two premier events in each style.
Standard has champ on Friday and WC on Saturday, Latin has WC on Friday and champ on Sunday. If the put both events on the same session, surely people would complain about that? So they are left with daytime or a different evening.

For those who can't make the champ/pre-champ on Friday, why not enter world competitor on saturday night? At the regionals it's a qualifier and so open to everyone. At least it seems to make more sense to do that then dance the syllabus six dance only.

Actually a little suprised to see WC events listed in american style - I mean there is no harm in holding them, but there is no IDSF event to select national reps for, either. I guess those who don't like how the NDCA didn't extent its IDSF-style elgibility exemption to amercian styles can be happy with the fact that USA Dance did.

They could have had the juinior events on Friday since those people don't have jobs. Some might be in their spring break anyway at the time. Really poor planning!

That's horrible. We're flying to NY for an audition my daughter has in Westchester all day Friday and wanted to do the qualifier on the same trip. They'll never be enough time in between to do both.

That is a smart plan.

If they dance World Class, that should qualify them for Nationals?

It will fulfill the regional participation requirement. To fulfill the Regionals Requirement for Nationals, you just have to dance in a Regionals. It doesn't matter what you dance. Someone could go dance Bronze Latin to fulfill the requirement, and then turn around and dance Pre-Champ and Champ Standard at Nationals. The only exception to this is World Class, where competitors have to dance the World Class qualifier for the event they want to be in at Nationals *and* make a certain placing.

Edited: Actually, I'm not even sure about that last statement...if you get World Class in Standard, do you automatically get it for Latin too? Or is it on a style-by-style basis? I could go look it up but I don't feel like it....
