We had a guy arrested in Brighton ( u.k. ) yesterday on suspicion of spying for Iran. He was feted as a salsa teacher and club owner, and had changed his name for reasons not known-- heres the kicker-- He OWNED 2 houses valued at $ 1. 6 million !!!, plus a nite club- did they think he got it from teaching ?????? ( he is only 36 )

Hey! Remember Gaynor Fairweather, her husband and the Hong Kong Chinese businesswoman! Maybe he had a similar deal going on in salsa? ;)

Corporal James was described yesterday as a career TA soldier, not just as a weekend part-timer. He had not served in the regular Army but with his fluency in some of the most sought-after languages, incuding Farsi, Dari and Pashtun, all vital for his role as an interpreter in Afghanistan, his specialist skills were much in demand.
He had been interpreter to Lieutenant-General David Richards, the British Commander of Nato’s International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, for several months.

Maybe he got bonuses? Personally, I am not surprised that he could own the two houses. With "self certification" to obtain a mortgage (as I understand it, you simply "sign" to say that you earn x amount a year and don't have to prove it), and the whole "buy to let" mortgage system PLUS "interest only mortgages", there are people who are "millionaires" but are mortgaged for the next 1,000 years of their lives! Maybe he had a clever accountant? (The kind who replies "How much do you want me to make it?" when asked how much is 1 + 1?)

Remember that Richard Branson helped make his fortune by not paying VAT in the early 70s... (He apparently would take records across to France (I believe it was), claim the VAT/not pay the VAT saying the records had been exported, then bring the records back into the UK and sell them.)

Let's not rush to judgement TT--maybe he gave a lot of privates. :raisebro:

Man, you Brits must have some hot salsa moves to send in a secret spy? What cool moves did he take from you? Now that even the Iranian's have your hotest move, how about putting them on YouTube? :)

Of course, it could be a British secret counter attack. When the elements of Iranian society that don't like salsa dancing and nightclubs sees the hot women of salsa, there might be a cultural revolution!

Ummm, I think you will find that he is charging with spying for Iran, not for the UK although, he does live in the UK :?

For "Danny J" is in fact Corporal Daniel James, the soldier accused of spying for Iran while working as intrepreter and aide to General David Richards, the commander of Nato forces in Afghanistan.

I wonder how long it will be before a movie is made of it!

Or course he is -- would you want to learn hot salsa dancing from Iran? I want to see what hot salsa moves you and TangoTime are working on that would be worth spying on? :)

The brits are in a secret meeting as we speak. I happen to know the agenda. They are trying to decide whether it is-- RHumba or rumba. And the debate rages on !!!

Are you sure Tangotime? I thought they were trying to decide whether to dance On1 or On2 or whether On3 exists!

Ah, I understand ... with 1/2 the latin world dancing on1 and the other 1/2 dancing on2, there just isn't much space left for you. This On3 thing might just be the next craze allowing the creators country to dominate the salsa world? No wonder they sent in a spy :)
