I'll half agree with you here. The "slim" look highly depends on the suit they're wearing. I think he looks really good in the second picture.
Now all of these look really good. I think that cut suited his body type well.

My attention is still drawn to the fabric pulling at the button, which doesn't look good.
If you want good suit fit examples, look at Raymond Burr. Pretty much throughout his career; from the linebacker build to the Santa Claus build, he always had suits that made the best of it.
I agree, if the button is pulling, to me the suit doesn't fit correctly. Sorry guys, the nearly naked woman is distracting and I am so busy looking at her costume that I miss the dancing completely.

To me, the fit should also accommodate action/movement. When I saw the
opening of Spectre, I kept being drawn to Bond seemingly wearing a suit that
he had mistakenly shrunk by putting into the clothes washer (roof scene)...
The creasing and over-stretching kept having me think he'd split some seam soon,
especially at the crotch or back.
When (suit) material is too tight, it usually looks terrible after the action/movement
is done, leaving creases/wrinkles everywhere, like the disheveled look of a kid
leaving the playground.
The old Bond looked so cool, able to wear a nice-fitting suit/tux to a party, run
off to some side room to wrestle and dispatch some villains, and come back to
the party as if nothing (action) happened. The new Bond would look guilty just by
the wrinkled/torn clothing.
The same issue applies to (Standard) dance tailsuits, as in the other forum thread.
Action formal clothing are meant to look good either in or out of action. For
instance, dance tailsuits have specially designed shoulders and weighted tails to
ensure coolness (but not normal tuxes).

To each their own- to me the old Bond is just that- old. The new Bond is modern and contemporary- and I love Daniel Craig. He can do no wrong in my book. The clothing for him is not an afterthought- it's well thought out and in keeping with a suave yet younger, cooler Bond- and he embodies it perfectly. When I watch that clip, I don't see a shrunken suit- I see cool, fresh, stylish and new- BTW thanks for posting one of my favorite opening sequences ever

I have to disagree with you there. I quite like the slim-fit look and to me, the suits in the later pictures look a bit oversized and not properly tailored. It certainly looks like those shoulder pads are overblown.

And what are we supposed to think about the gimmick? That dancers (like politicians and
clergy) can't keep their pants on?

Not saying this is you, but it seems that the same men who always want to see ladies wearing less and less are the ones who think it's gross and disgusting then when a man wears something like this.
