Stone Suggestion?

I have a new red standard dress made for me, which I need to stone myself. I am looking for some inspiration by searching ballroom dress web sites, but I would like to get some of your help as well.

The dress has a wide boat neck opening exposing the shoulders and low back opening. The bodice is made of lycra, the sleeves mesh, and the skirt chiffon. The bodice is star-shaped where it meets the skirt. The color of all the fabric is primary red. The dress came with floats, which I did not put on yet. (I don't know if I want to.) Just a note: I have not done any pattern stoning. So I am reluctant to try that yet, unless it is something very simple.

Thank you in advance.

Do you have any pictures of the dress?

If the fabric has any kind of a pattern in it, you can always pick that up and stone on the fabric pattern (I often do this if there is lace in the dress. Since the skirt is chiffon, you'll probably want to leave the skirt plain, or stone it very sparsely (you don't want to sacrifice the movement of the skirt).

I always use Swarovski stones. For red, you have several choices -- Siam, Light Siam, Garnet, etc. You'll want to make sure you choose the right color . . .

I'm current stoning a red smooth dress, as well, and I'm using Light Siam, Light Siam AB and AB. But it depends on the red, and how much you want the stones to show.

If you want something simple & straightforward, you can always just cluster the stones close together at the top, and have them kind of "fade out" as they go down the skirt.

I've stoned a couple of dresses for my mother, and I'd be happy to show you what I did if you give me an email address to send the pictures to (just send me a pm with your email).
