another stoning question this one specifically about a man's top

if I'm stoning a man's stretch top can I stone it flat or am I best doing it on a dress form or body?

if I can do it flat what allowances do I need to make so that the stones don't pop off as soon as it is stretched??

attached is a picture of the top

hmmmm, looks a little baggy on that dude :p

If you expect a significant amount of stretch when worn, not a bad idea to put it on a dress form or stuff it with something before stoning. Otherwise I don't think it's really necessary.

Advice I got from a dressmaker: if you don't have a dress form or a pillow of the appropriate size, put on the shirt, take measurements from side seam to side seam, and from shoulder to crotch/hem. Take the shirt off and pin it to a piece of carpet or something soft, to those measurements PLUS ONE INCH. You now have stretched the shirt to its necessary length/width, plus some extra, so when you put it on later after stoning, you should be OK. Stone front; let dry; remove from padded surface; re-pin and stretch back; stone back; let dry.

Relax, you don't have to stretch this shirt to stone. Just lay it flat, place a piece of plastic or wax paper beteen the fabric and stone away, press them down, and wear. If you use Gem Tac glue, the stones will not come off when this shirt is stretched. I've stoned sheer shirts, mesh shirts, seethrough shirts, fishnet shirts, Spandix shirts, Lycra shirts in this manner and I have not seen any stones coming off when I wear them. Some shirts (made of stocking materials) have to stretch 10 times when I wear them but stones are still hanging there. Gem Tac glue is rubbery, meaing that it stretches and contracts.

It depends. If the shirt fits your partner like it fits that model, no need to stretch it. If it actually fits snugly, fill it with something just a bit smaller than your partner.

thanks for the advice guys - the shirt fits my dance partner rather more snugly than in the picture - so no baggyness

pinning to carpet idea is good -only I don't have any

I have told my dance partner he many need to wear it while I stone it :D

now for a design question

we are putting 7 lines of light siam down the front from top of should to about nipple level - this is going to use up pretty much everything we have of light siam stones - dance partener would like some stoning on the arms and has suggested a single ab crystal line down each arm.

I'm not sure this is the way to go - got a feeling it will look like we ran out of stones and that the ab crystal will drown out the light siam....

thoughts.???

Perhaps you could get a sheet of styrofoam? Cover that with an old sheet so the glue cannot get on it and eat the plastic away and pin your garment on that. This way you'd not need to sit on the floor doing the stoning either and you can move it.

(My mother uses it to stretch the pieces of knitted sweaters before sewing them together.)

If I were you I'd wear this shirt as it is without stoning. If I still have the urge of stoing it, I'd randomly stone it with Jet Hermatite.
