Streaking Tanners

I've used mystic tan and had a good experience. If I was doing it again though, I would plan on going more than once. I wasn't as dark as I would have liked to be. Probably twice would do it or three times if you wanted to be very dark. The price adds up if you do that though!

even though it eventually creates the "right look" but the cost is high, if each time $25 then twice would be already $50, The superbraun bottle is $40 each and I can use for a few comps;)

Exactly! Although...I did hear taht sometimes you can get Mystic Tan at a discounted price (kind of a sale) depending on location. But I haven't actually found that myself yet.

This may sound crazy, but the last time I had problem spots that were too dark (like on my elbows), my boyfriend came up with the ingenious idea of exfoliating me with a piece of very fine sandpaper he had. It did not hurt at all and effectively removed the dark spots (probably along with the skin) without a lot of rubbing! Not sure how this would work if you have to lighten your whole leg, though.

I guess nothing beats a care from a boy firend, but those who don't have this access, try this method.

It is beneficial in many ways and simply heavenly.

You know what's been happening to me lately? That awesome tanner that I love, is coming off really weird. Usually only on my legs though. It comes off in the shape of cracked skin. So there are little lines eveywhere of white. It looks really odd and end up finding my self re-tanning to make it go away. It almost like I have to buy more or I'll look like a leopard. I tried ex foliating but it makes it worst because some spots are more difficult to remove than others and I end up with one big brown spot. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am curious about something with tanner. I see more men (less on women because they don't tend to wear solid white), who wear white Latin shirts when competing. By the time they finish their first dance, their "white" shirts are badly streaked with tanner. I'm talking bad staining from their sweating.
Are they not waiting long enough for it to dry, or is it the tanner they are using? I have heard some tanners use a drying agent as a second step in the process.
I can't imagine these stains actually come out after the comp. Great for those of us who sell them the white shirts, but not good for them. Is there a solution? I think this really takes away from their look on the floor.

If they are using a tanner with an instantly visible bronzer, and don't rinse this off once the DHA has done its job, it'll most likely stain when they sweat. While I agree it's useful to see where you're applying the stuff, I don't like how the bronzer rubs off on clothing. I try whenever possible to rinse it off myself before putting on comp costumes.

Sometimes the brown that ends up on a guy's latin shirt is makeup. Have seen instances where guys have used bronzer on their chests and that stains the shirt (but bronzer does wash out), or they end up with the ladies make-up on their shirts or thier own if they use bronzer on their faces.

For my first competition, I got advice from one of the female teachers. She said tan 2 or 3 days in advance, then spray tan one day, then go back the next day for a 2nd spray. She said the tan would give the spray tan a more golden look and help it last longer. It could get pricey.

I'm very fair skinned and my ghost white legs would have scared the judges silly. :p I decided to do a few days of tanning, but only 1 layer of spray tan at the salon. At the time, it seemed like it was enough. (I was SOOOOO dark!) But after several days and that first shower, I wished I'd followed her advice. :headwall: I was still tan, but no where near as good.

This topic actually makes me really nervous. I am more a social dancer than a competitive one so I haven't explored all the tanning stuff. I am a red head and very pale (aside of my freckles) ;) Do you have to tan if you compete? Would I be the only white legged person out there? I am sure I would get the judges attention. :p

I also remember that the movie The Wedding Planner with JLo said something like lemon juice, salt and a loofa I think to one of the brides that was streaked.

oh hate bronzers...not to mention latin guys, my standard partner has makeup on his standard shirt collars as a result of using bronzer on his face & neck.

Use witch hazel on the dark parts and hydrogen peroxide on the really dark parts. Found that out by mistake, then I looked like a tiger! Not fun.......Boo Hiss....

wow this is so scary ...I am not brave enough to even try them for the very reason of uneven results, but like everything it is practice practice practice
