I was curious if anyone here on DF was going to the StuckOnSalsa All-Star Salsa Cruise 2006. I will be going :). Edie "the Salsa Freak", Cultural Explosion and Shaka Brown to name a few will be there!

I have never been on a actual salsa cruise, but it sounds like fun!!!

If you have any advice to make the best out of trip, please provide.

Me! Me! It's great that another DF'er is going. I thought I was going to have to cancel (my roommate cancelled on me after we made our deposit) but Earl helped me find another roomate. (Kudos to Earl!) I love taking classes from Shaka, and I know that Griselle Ponce is going as well (she is da bomb!) I've always wanted to take some classes from Edie, even though I pretty much dance on 2 now. Has anyone taken classes from her before? What is she like?
Back to the subject at hand, I haven't ever been on a cruise before but since everything is included, I guess our job is to just have fun and dance!

I went last year and had a great time. The average enjoyment of social dancing on the cruise was the highest I've ever experienced.(I had more fun then I have at Jimmy's, or a congress) I came back exhausted.
I wish I was going this year . . .

My advice, social dance, alot of people I know went on the cruise, did all the workshops, classes, saw performances, and then never went to the parties. Last year the parties were from 2am to 5am, but DAMN(sorry for the language) They were so much fun that most people were going uo until they kicked us out. Then we all woke up at 9 or so to do the various "cruise" activities.

Only complaint I might have is that since the cruise I have felt let down with any other social dancing.

Vin, I don't get people who don't social dance. I teach a sort of salsa aerobics class at my gym. I tell my ladies I am not teaching them salsa persay (we do shines, etc.) and actively encourage them to take lessons and go out. I also know people that go to lessons, don't bother to social dance, and then wonder why they don't improve. Social dancing is the only way that I know I'm getting better. I knew I was improving when I went to Zurich and could dance with anyone---I couldn't get much further from my normal dance partners! It was great!
Back to subject, I'm so glad the cruise is going to be fun! Were there any highlights in terms of instructors on the cruise? What other activities were there besides salsa (not that I need any!)

Sounds like a good deal considering food and tips are included in the price. Now the problem is I don't dance on1 anymore. I guess you don't know how many on2 dancers are there will be until you get there.

Activities: Basic stuff, we went to the cruise line's private island one day and chilled. There was some basic water activities available, parasailing, snorkelling and others. Another day we visited Nassua.

On1 On2: I would say the cruise was more on2 than on1. I may have danced on1 a couple of times but it was mostly on2 and I suspect it will be similar(except bigger) this year, judging from some of the people that I know are going this year.
