Summer Reading

No, she's the one who hates me. And I still don't know why. What I feel for her is more utter disgust at the kind of person she's turned out to be.

We have a big Lindy event tomorrow night and a six-hour salsa workshop Sunday. And tonight's my usual West Coast.

I hear what you're saying, and I can relate to that. But I still think the best thing is to try and come to a state of indifference, because once you get to a place where they can't manipulate your emotions anymore, they cease to have any power over you.

Enjoy the Lindy and Salsa! :D

Rosa :)

Any sorts of negative emotions drain you...even disgust. I don't let anyone take energy away from em like that!!

Now that I take the train and subway into work, I have a lot more time for reading. So far, this summer I have read:

1776 by David McCullough (excellent!)
The Pact
Kite Runner (excellent!) and; I'm working on
The Corrections

Anyone else??
Heard of 1776, but what about the other three ... what are they about?

Ouch! Now there is some serious reading going on there. Are any of those books under 600 pages?

I'm trying to get into a biography of Sir Laurence Olivier. It's a big, thick book, so wish me luck. If not, I'll probably read the biography of Steppin Fetchit that I also borrowed from the library on Friday.

am going to read the sequel to the notebook which I have on dvd and still havent watched...maybe this week...so I know what the heck is going on in the book

Erm... Pretchett, Maguire and the first couple of Harry Potter books were under 600 pages.

I'm reading Empire Falls.

Planning to read Clash of Kings next..I've been waiting two whole months for my husband to finish it.

I started reading 1776 but had to return it to the library before finishing it. I have to confess to being more of a fiction than non-fiction reader, but I do like to read about the Revolutionary period and also the War Between the States.

Two of my favorite authors have new books out--
P.D. James and Martha Grimes--excellent literary mystery writers. So I will be happy for the next month or so! I don't get as much time to read as I'd like--it was my #1 hobby before I started to dance!

i read mostly contemporary fiction from southeast asia and latin america/the caribbean. i made an exception recently, however, and read IN COLD BLOOD prior to seeing the film CAPOTE. didn't regret it - tremendous book.
