Summer Travel Plans

Are you going to travel anywhere this summer?

I'm making another one of my trips to the Seattle area to visit a relative. Among other things I'm hoping to visit and old community east of the city.

Definitely the Poconos for a week. Hopefully somewhere else for a week, too. Probably NC. Just not sure yet.

Dunno. Going to western MD and renting a cabin for a long weekend with a bunch of my girl friends. Should be awesome--just an all-girls weekend.

There's been talk of a family reuinion of sorts sometime...yay...

Probably nothing other than that.

If I do go some place, then it will probably be Philly. My step-dad is buying a new apartment, and is excited to have everyone see it. I enjoyed my last trip out to Philly, so I'm excited as well! ;)

Over Labor Day, I'm meeting my parents and brother & sister-in-law (they will be flying from Denver, I'll be flying from Newark) in Washington state for a few days. The town of Milton (South of Seattle, East of Tacoma) will be dedicating a memorial to all veterans on Memorial Day. My Dad and a few member of his family, will each have their name engraved on a brick as part of the memorial. My Dad served in WW2 and grew up in the Milton area.

As far as the rest of the summer, I'll just hang around New Jersey working and dancing.

Going to Ft. Lauderdale/Boca/Miami over Memorial Day and to Puerto Rico in late July (during the congress).

Greek islands; Paros and Astypalaia are on our (that is me and my friends) list. DEFINITELY not going anywhere with my parents, that's for sure.

speaking of which, i saw the news report & a video of the cruise ship that struck a reef off of santorini... a little bit of drama over your way, huh?

I'm going on a cruise through the Panama Canal with my mom, and then later on I'll be going to the UK to hang out in London for a few days and then go to watch Blackpool. After that...who knows?

Big, big plans ... To celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, DH and I are taking a Mediterranean cruise. We'll be in Athens on May 30 and Navplion on May 31, among other places. Had fantasies of saying hi to T_E in Athens, but will probably just do the usual tourist things (having never been there). Seriously, T_E, do you have any hints on the best way to see the must-see sites? The usual cruise-line shore excursions always seem so sterile and plastic, but unless you know something about where you're going, they have the advantage of at least being safe.

Before the cruise, we plan a dance excursion in Hungary with friends, and a train ride to Istanbul ... we're getting very excited.

Oh wow, how exciting! That sounds awesome!

My brother stopped through Istanbul. He loved it.

Sadly, that cruise ship (the Sea Diamond) sank and there are still 2 people unaccounted for. The rest are all safe and sound.
