Supadance 1403 Narrow vs. Ray Rose Blizzard

It's been years since I wore the 1403s, but that was the model I used before switching to the Blizzards. From what I remember, the forefoots were similar, though the Blizzard has more comfortable straps, but the heel cup on the 1403s didn't fit right. It never felt tremendously loose or anything, but apparently it was just loose enough to cause pain. I also feel more stable in the Blizzards because of the heel placement.

Thanks Samba girl. That is the weirdest thing. I bought the blizzards because of the narrow fit. After I bought them I kept reading how wonderfully balanced they are because of the heel placement and I thought - great, just an extra bonus. But I always noticed that it was difficult for me to stand in the blizzards without feeling wobbly. The heels tips would always kind of wobble back and forth and I never felt like I could put weight into my heel like I needed too. So last weekend, I tried on a friend's supadance 1066 (same heel height on one foot) and the blizzard on the other. I could easily balance on the foot that had the 1066 on, but not the blizzard. Of course, the 1066 is HUMUNGOUS on my foot, so I thought perhaps the 1403 would work better. I may give them a try to see.

You're welcome! You may also have gotten a pair of lemons on the Blizzards, as RR has been known to have consistency issues in the past. One thing I do to check them before buying is to place the shoes on a flat surface and then press down in the center of the insole with my finger to see how well the shoe "spreads" away from the center when looking at the shoe from the side. I also hold the shoe up and look straight on from the back to see if the heels have been centered properly.

You may find the 1043s work fine for you -- I did use them for a while. Everyone's feet are different, so not everyone should wear what are supposedly the "best" shoes.

Perhaps they are lemons. I will try this test when I get home.

When you wore the 1043s, did you wear the regular width or the narrow width?
