Supadance style 1063

I recently decided to switch from 2.5 inch heels to 3 inch heels, so I ordered new shoes. I danced in the Supadance style 1066, which I loved. However, I mistakenly ordered the 1063 this time (they look VERY similar... also, I'm a bit stupid). This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that the 1063 has a contour heel, while the 1066 has a flared heel. I am concerned that the jump from 2.5 inch to 3 inch is enough of a challenge on my balance without the reduced heel support.

Does anyone have experience with the 1063, or any contour heel for Latin? Is there a significant difference in support and balance?

Does it have a contour heel or narrow heel? I've never noticed any latin shoes coming with the contour heel?
If it's just narrow, I actually have noticed the narrow heel is easier for me in the higher heel latin shoes. I'm not exactly sure why, but it just feels like the narrower heel is less "in the way" when I'm in 3 inch heels, even though I like the flare heels better in 2.5 inch heels.

The 1063 does indeed have a contour heel. Huh...interesting.

While I haven't experienced your exact question, trying out different brands has provided me with similar experience. The most important consideration of the heel IMO is where it is placed under your foot (heel). I've had some top-notch shoes that left me feeling very unbalanced because the heel wasn't centered where I needed it to be. But since you wear Supadance anyway, this likely won't be an issue.

My experience has also been that thicker heels are more comfortable to dance/practice in, but not as easy to spin/rotate in. Like Wooh said, the wider heel just felt "in the way". Slimmer heels seem to beg for rotation! That said, I'm comparing flare heels from different manufacturers.

Moving up to 3" from 2.5" shouldn't be too much of a problem in terms of balance. You may even find that you feel less flat-footed when doing fast footwork. My hunch is that you'll be just fine in the 1063. They might take a little getting used to, but you'll just get extra practice balancing through your core.:D
