swing board

somehow, the salsa and ballroom parts of this forum are very active, though the swing board is really slow. can anyone imagine why? i mean there are enough swing dancers around. (chandra, flat shoes, vince a, d nice, dwise, blue...)

I don't know enough swing yet. I know the very basic "right-two-three, left-two-three, rightback", and that's it.

I think next month we're on swing, so maybe I'll chime in with my boneheadedness then. :lol:

I will when we get into it more. Now, I'm just trying to "find it" and stay on it. We look like we have a severe neuromuscular disorder at this stage of the game.

Well, the old saying is that you have to look dumb first before you can look good! It can be frustrating, but stick with it. As long as you're having fun that's all that matters and you'll eventually get it. And the more you go out now, the quicker that time will come.

As for the lack of participation on this board....there are a number of swing specific boards out there, most swing dancers tend to be regulars on Yehoodi (Lindy) or StrictlyWestie (WCS) and a new Shag board has start up.

Since they are more specific in nature, most people who frequent them do not frequent DF as well.

i always check the swing board, but never ave much to say.. When i have questions, i normally go to swingmonkey and thats all more local people. who if they can't explain it well enough through words, will find me at a dance and SHOW me....

but i do like the boards here, they are nice.... Its just easier, and you get more responces when you go to a swing specific board...

you'd think so. i asked on yehoodi about some swing things, the answeres where pretty few.

I also frequent SwingOutDC.com because it's local, though I like the community/conversations on the DF swing board better. 8)

Swingmonkey, Itsallswing, SwingoutDC, RAD, all popular locations for swing dancers to go.

I find one of the reasons questions aren't answered is that it's difficult to convey something over the internet, especially when that something has to do with the body.

My coach can tell me the same thing over and over. I don't get it until she shows me and puts her hands on me forcing me to move in a specific way. It's hard to convey that over the web.

Additionally, some questions and subjects have been done to death and a search on these boards would come up with the answer. Regulars on the boards have answered so many times that they just stop.

True, I find I dont have time to keep up completely with both. I chose to completely follow strictly westie, and after Im don reading over there, what times left, I devote to DF...
Strictly westie is satiating my need for WCS specific conversation, whereas on DF we talk about EVERYTHING.

I can only guess that there are more salsa and ballroom dancers on Dance Forums than swing dancers :wink:

I always dive into one of the 'Active Topics' list at the top of the page if something appeals. And I have a look at the 'General Dance Discussion' board too.

Although dancing almost exclusively Swing, I use this board far more than any Swing-specific ones like Yehoodi. I like the layout, speed, and also the fact that it encompasses other dances.

yeah, but if you look at the active topics there are mainly salsa/ballroom/general threads up.
