Switching Dresses

Question for ya. I saw an event listed on a comp website that was a combo dance event; 3 latin dances, 3 standard dances. I can't tell if you do them all back to back, but I'm assuming so since that's how it's listed in the schedule. What do you do about your costume in this situation? Anyone ever done one of these?

If it's the syllabus 6-dance at Wendi's comps, they permit you a shoe change between styles--but no costume change, so you gotta wear something that works for both.

That definitely would make it easier on ya. And cheaper too. :D

It's actually Hotlanta. If you have the "right" outfit, you could just as easily swap a skirt in the same time it takes to swap shoes. Always wanted one of those "convertible" dreses ....

Not sure I've seen those, but I've never really looked. Guess I can *google* her name :)

I'm not sure of the website, but she's under the name Designs by Lyn, I think. 8)

Hi! Just spoke with one of the Global Organizers and the event will be run on 2 separate nights. He said that you could always count on them giving you time for a costume change unless it states that specifically on the entry form. SO at this point, my understanding is that latin will be done one night and standard the next and the nights involved are Fri and Sat.

Hope this helps!!!!

Definitely does. Thanks. :D

Raises an interesting issue. Are there gowns that can be converted to Latin dresses from the waist down or something? Sort of like removable skirts?

I've seen dresses that can be both standard and latin. They often come with 2 skirts that can be switched quickly...

Thank you, dressgirl. I'm kind of surprised they're running it that way, but it does make things a little easier.

Eddie Ares is a former coach of mine (and DanceMentor's). He's a GREAT guy and I would suggest emailing him or Nancy and asking what the rules would be in that sitch. He does answer emails. :)
