New York TImes had an article on the influence of the show. And how it's kind of surprising that it is back!
First airing is tonight!

Auditions #1
Premiere

The Season 15 premiere. The first round of auditions begin as highly-skilled dancers between the ages of 18 and 30 showcase their talents in various dance styles, including contemporary, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, animation, and breaking.

You know her as a cruise ship dancer, or?
Just stopped by to say that, as usual, the show put a smile on my face.
Auditions have always been one of my favorite parts of the show: from the incredible new talent, to the really, really not very good.

When I went on the DWTS at Sea cruises, she was a troupe dancer for those shows. I chatted with her quite a bit and danced with her in the late night club. Now we're Facebook friends.

Not sure if anyone watched through the end (I was constantly 2-3 weeks behind and playing catch up with the DVR'd episodes). Nonetheless:

1. I was rooting for Slavik, especially once we got to the final 4. I was as disappointed as he visibly was when his name was called as a non-winner. My 2nd favorite (from top 4) was Genessey. D'oh.

2. Given the final two, I'm glad it was Hannahlei. idk, I felt like the show was pushing hard to hand it to Jensen to promote the Arnold dynasty. She had some great moments but I didn't think she was that amazing of a dancer, even in her own style (maybe I've seen too many Blackpool/pro routine videos, lol).

Hopefully next season they will have a Top 20 (Top 10 was too short, not enough time to really get to know and enjoy the contestants) and find a replacement for Vanessa Hudgeons.
