SYTYCD Season 4 Week 5

It seems like I am completely alone in being totally unimpressed with Courtney. I hated her cha-cha so much and I just don't see much style in her dancing in general. She's cute but her movement does nothing for me emotionally.

And WHAT IS UP with the judges "ignoring" the 2nd half of Kherington's Krump? So she does a great first 16 measures, loses all her energy, drops out of character and flubs the moves for the last like 48 measures. How in the world can they ignore that? I thought part of being a dancer was having endurance.

If there is one thing that I hate about this show, it's the judges' tendency to try and lead our votes a certain way.

I think Courtney has done a good job, but I dont really care too much about her dancing..

You're not alone. While I agree she has good stage presence and chemistry with her partner, Courtney's dancing isn't all that. If the judges are gonna nitpick Comfort for not pointing her toes, they should mention that Courtney's Cha was a little sloppy (and personally, much of that looked more like Hustle than Cha). Consistency with these judges?!? HA.
Whatever. I'm just trying to watch and enjoy the dancing. I haven't voted at all yet.

I don't vote either but it doesn't make their style of judging any less frustrating.

Sometimes I wish there wasn't any judging at all. Just let it be a 3 month showcase of some amazing dancers and choreographers.

The judging isn't consistent, they have their favorites. Kherrington is one of their favorites, and it seems so it seems is Courtney. I've given up on looking for consistency. Just don't be downright hateful. And TRY to be constructive.
I thought some more and realized why it was so bothersome what Mia said to Jessica last night. She's said horrible things like that before to other dancers. But it was always to dancers in other genres. (Most notably Heidi.) These contemporary kids look up to her for whatever reason. So constructive criticism from her to a contemporary dancer is great. But saying what she did to a contemporary dancer who more than likely idolizes her, not cool. And not just for Jessica. Saying it to Will puts him in a bad spot. She's practically putting words in his mouth.
I don't know, on American Idol, Simon can say something mean, and can get away with it as "speaking his mind." No singer grows up idolizing Simon Cowell. But contemporary dancers do seem to put a lot of stock in what Mia Michaels says. And because of that, she has a responsibility to use some tact.

"Mia Michaels" and "tact" don't really go together in the same sentence. She was rough on Benji and Heidi in season 2 and last night was new low for her given that Jessica's a dancer in Mia's genre. I still like Mia, and respect her as a choreographer and judge but even last night was hard to sit through.

Did we discuss Nigel's rudeness during last week's results show? He was absolutely horrible to Robert Muraine because of what happened in Vegas.

"Saying it to Will puts him in a bad spot. She's practically putting words in his mouth."

And Will handled himself well in that situation. Mia acknowledged that. I thought she looked a bit sheepish at that point. Like maybe she realized what she had said and thought, Oh, Sh.., what did I just say."

I seem to remember Nigel making a remark in one of the first shows this season that they were going to try to be nicer because they had gotten a lot of flak about being too harsh.
It's not easy, though, to be on the spot and not say something stupid. Ever.

Watching the results show... I'm really looking forward to Twitch's solo. I think he'll be safe. And while I think Comfort is going home, I wouldn't be that upset if they ended up sending Jessica or Kherington home. But I would be disappointed if Twitch or Will got sent home.

Props to Thayne for being a very good dancer but... Will's solo was infinitely more interesting and entertaining to watch, IMHO.

Lol, (again IMHO) Twitch should be safe. Both those two guys had really good solos, while Thayne's has gotten a little too familiar. Not only just with his solos during this season, but the similarities to the same style dancers from past seasons.

I could see Kherington be in trouble. I didn't particularly feel anything with her solo.

Based just on solos, it should be Thayne and Kherrington, neither which would bother me, especially Kherrington.

I think it's going to be particularly tough the next few weeks. Especially for the guys. Will, Mark, Gev, Twitch, and Joshua... they've all done a nice job, and I'd love to see them all do solos.

Maaaaan the men's side is going to be tough..

Maybe SYTYCD should do that, set it up so we have bottom three couples and eliminate lowest two from there... and not have it be only one boy and one girl.

I'd be willing to see some man on man tango. =P

But seriously... I think that would be a nice twist... start out with an even number of men and women... and just go from there.

This was already done but not on this show. Jonathan Roberts and Steve Guttenberg did it this past season on DwtS. I think Tom or Samantha called it a "man-go".

The question now is this: Which two guys on SYTYCD do you want to see for this? ;)
