Why would you be on the fence? It seems you have little to worry about! You’ve both had the disease and been vaccinated....

Isn’t it time to move on to other worries? Like... being mugged; car crash; being injured by a follower out of practice; lightning strike; global warming, WWIII.

There is so much to choose from! :)

Another state but only about 45 minutes - maybe an hour & a 1/2 away. The organizer's previous milongas in NYC weren't my favorite - but I'm thinking "any port in a storm". They will take temperatures at the door, provide masks & hand sanitizer. I have KN95 masks, face shields & latex gloves. I survived a "mild" covid infection in the summer & had gotten both doses of the Moderna vax in February. I'm almost more worried about my loss of dance skills with over a year of absence from the dance floor, than I am about reinfection in what will probably be a very sparsely attended milonga.

I was PCR tested positive for covid in June, after quarantine tested positive for antibodies in June, July & August. In September antibodies were not detected. 8 months after diagnosis I got the vaccines. A new variant was recently detected in New York, I think within the last month. News reports say the current vaccines should be effective against the variants.

Except for WWIII I've experienced all the others (well not really lightning, but was thrown to another wall by a mis-wired motor control electrical panel). I just feel like if the odds are 1: 100 or 1:1000 of reinfection, with my luck I could be the 1. But then, maybe if I leave town that night to go the milonga I can avoid a zombie apocalypse?

I know people who showed antibodies literally months after infection. Before that—zero.

I have been bitten by a squirrel while feeling it nuts out of the palm of my hand (dumb thing to do). It was accidental on the part of the squirrel. Their teeth are like razors!
