Tap Dancing

We did a very amusing tap routine - and very simple - to the song that starts out "splish splash I was taking a bath"...you know that one? Would be pretty easy to use for your homework assignment. *grin*

I don't, but I'll check it out :). Thanks!

quixotedlm - If you're really, really, really, new
(I'm thinking - shuffle 1, step 2, shuffle 3, step 4 - slow tempo new)
There are some really nice Foxtrots in the Dance music guide on this site that would work. For example; "New York, New York", "Moondance", "I Won't Dance - Don't Ask Me" or "Singin' In The Rain"

Of course there's the ever-popular "Tea for Two" - ;)

If you're a bit more advanced, you could always listen to the Swings or Jive music guides and find something faster with more interesting tap rythyms.

Good Luck with your homework!

Hmmm I had a couple of my beginner classes dance to Elvis songs, Jailhouse Rock being one of the easiest (also makes it easier to ham some things up and use general dance steps not just tap stuff) Most of his songs are really well known but have a lot of flare so you can make it interesting even for beginners.

Other than that I'm kind of having a mental block, sometimes its hard for beginners cause most songs are too fast to do to speed but get kinda boring if you do half. Trying to think of a good one that wouldn't be...maybe check out some Nat King Cole classics? (sorry for the stream of conciousness)

Personally I'd actually stay away from Singin in the Rain (unless its for 20 five year olds in bright yellow rain coats), its so well known and of course there is the issue that no one compares to the original ;) and many people know the rhythms Gene Kelly used so making new ones can be somewhat awkward (I'd probably say the same for something like 42nd street).
