Thanksgiving Dinner

With Thanksgiving coming up (turkey) and Christmas coming up (more turkey) and New Year's coming up (turkey leftovers :lol: ) any tips for baking your turkey or making the stuffing?

SD - if you direct towards the Food Forum, I am going to huff and I am going to puff and then, and then, :roll: I am going to say "Yes Sir!" :tongue: :lol:

Sorry. Can't give away the family secret. LOL.

But here's a non-secret. Try the injectable marinades (I'll check for the brand name later -- I think I've used my last bottle.)

Very tasty, and they come in several different flavors. I like the Cajun marinade best. 8)

Then there's always the plastic cooking bags ( a friend turned me on to those last year.) The turkey does turn out nice and moist. (Of course, it does if you use the family secret, too. :wink: :lol: )

And then there's my favorite tip of all. You don't have to cook turkey. At my big Thanksgiving feast last year, the star of the show was honey glazed chicken, which I made as an afterthought, when I found out at the last minute I was going to have extra guests.

two suggestions, which produce a moister turkey:

- try deep frying it. only takes about a half hour that way (& injecting marinades does influence the flavor doing it this way);
- if you do roast, try slathering it in mayonnaise. sounds kinda gross, but it seems to work;

Ew! Mayo does sound gross, but what the heck! I use huge chucks of butter now, so what the heck! Butter; mayonnasie. It's all the same -- huge globs of fat. :shock: :lol: Why not? I'll try it on one of the holiday turkeys this year.

I usually get Renolds turkey bags from the store. They make cooking a turkey a snap. It takes about 2.5 hours to cook the whole turkey in the bag!

We don't have Thanksgiving in Romania... and don't eat any turkey for Christmas anyway!

The same in Denmark.

So we can properly go dancing, instead of eating all night.
A thanks given after the dance must be enough. :wink:
