Welcome to...The 2004 DF Silent Auction!

OK guys, as you all know the DF has been continuing to grow and, in less than two years, has far surpassed anything that DanceMentor or I ever envisioned. More than just growing in size, however, the DF has continued to grow as a community of dancers who freely exchange and share their knowledge and love of dancing. That’s the great news. The flipside of all of this is that the DF is becoming a more and more expensive site to run, and one of the ways you can help out is by participating in this, the first ever DF Silent Auction!

So, how is it going to work?

Phase I: For the month of October we will be accepting items and services to be put up for auction. These items can be dance related or not… as long as the items/services are legal, and appropriate for people of all DF ages, anything goes! You have it? We want it!

Phase II: For the month of November we will be auctioning off (details yet to come) all of the items and services contributed during the month of October. And here’s the key… with all proceeds going to help support the Dance Forums! (Hint, great time to be doing some holiday shopping too, huh? )

So… I hereby announce The 2004 DF Silent Auction!

And, to get the ball rolling, I'm contributing two, separate 8x10 photos (to be determined in conjunction with the winning bidders).

Who – and what  – is next?

I will donate a voucher for one free pair of ladies shoes and one free pair of mens ( either the regular line or the new premium mens )

I also was able to get two pairs of shoes from Showtime. The bidding will start at $60, and anything above $60 will go to Dance Forums.
(not as good as tashe, but at least we have a total of 3 pairs of shoes and 2 8x10 photos to auction. That's 5 things...great start for the first day! :D

Heya everyone, I hope you're all enjoying our new speedy DF! This improvement results from our switching to a dedicated server... which (unfortunately) costs us a good bit more. the DF has—and will—always try to provide you with a site as free from commercial interests as is possible, but that doesn't mean that there aren't expenses involved in running the site. If you have anything that you'd be willing to "donate" to help support this site for all of us, please contribute it to the 2004 Silent Auction. Remember, it doesn't have to be something dance related and good also be a skill or service you'd be willing to share!

Thanks, in advance, for anything you can do to help out.

I'll donate one weekend pass to the 2005 Reno Dance Sensation. This includes attendance at all regular workshops, competitions, and the night dances. All proceeds will go to the Dance Forums dedicated server.

I am offering an antique book entitled:

Guide to Dancing by Helene Davis copyright 1923 by the Charles T. Powner Co.

The bidding will start on this at $50 as it is rare and out of print.

This book is an excellent historical reference for social dancing of the early 20th Century. I wouldn't give it up, but this is for a REALLY good cause.

It is also in really excellent condition. The spine is barely broken in. I was SUPER careful when scanning some of the pages. ;)

Happy Bidding!

Heya everyone, we're wrapping up the donation phase of the DF's first ever silent auction so, if you have anything you'd be willing to contribute – dance related OR NOT! – please consider doing so now. The switch to the dedicated server has been great for the DF, but also raised our monthly hosting costs to $180. Making sure that we cover this expense also postpones when we can get outside programming help to deal with glitches that sometimes arise (such as the ability to upload photos to the albums) until we know we have enough funds for both.

ALL proceeds – as in absolutely 100% – from the silent auction will go to help with the expense of the dedicated server.

Let the Bidding Begin!!!

Here are the individual items up for bid...
