Zotto is very accomplished. But performance is performance and not social tango. Don't confuse the two. Personally, I've never been drawn to that style of dancing.

True. But, like all things, there is a spectrum. Is it not conceivable that Zotto could dance at a milonga in fundamentally the same style, albeit with smaller steps and less flourish.

No, you can't do that at a milonga unless you're dancing alone like they are. You don't do high boleos at a milonga and his steps are too long to be practical. I'm sure Zotto could dance at a milonga without a problem. Whether he wants to is another matter. The style is still largely exhibition style.

You’d need to know the actual context, but I’d name it "workshop-style." The couple is exaggerating, presumably to illustrate a teaching point.

BTW, in my opinion, he closes on side steps his left leg a bit too slowly and his right one too quickly. That’s something I had to work on myself at one point.
And her sharp boleos don’t match the current melodic phrase; to me, it seems off - either too early or too late, there are better moments in this music. Happens at such demonstrations.

Probably Villa Urquiza:
-Posture: either dances on their own axis.
-Embrace: >embrace (salón hold, con luce).
-Vocabulary: forward boleos (saludos) are characteristic.
-Music: often di Sarli or Pugliese, never d'Arienzo.

Those particular dancers use a very wide range of styles, but the videos they post are all performance/demo oriented. Most of what they do in that particular video could be toned down and oriented to remain within the line of dance, but the fast voleos would obviously be too risky.

I wouldn't say that I know them, but I've met them and seen them dance.

They're Adrien and Iro, extremely active in the international competitive scene. Friends of mine, but not particularly close. I'd say their inspirations are varied, but include Marcela Duran/Gavito. Villa Urquiza is the closest equivalent, but their dance is very much stylised and tends to be on the more dramatic side of things, especially when they perform. I danced with Iro over a year ago, so all I can remember was that I enjoyed her embrace.

I've danced with Iro a few times. Wonderful dancer.

I've had a few lessons from Adrien and Iro over the years - I think I was in the very first group lesson they ever gave as a couple. I rate them very highly as teachers. It has also been very interesting watching their dance change over the years they have been together as they have continued to learn and improve their own dancing.

Although they perform a lot they are also both lovely social dancers - although its been over a year since I saw them dance socially - but I doubt that has changed
