The connection between body type and success or struggle in certain styles of dance

I've been hearing that people that are tall and lanky have an easier time learning smooth than other body types and that stocky people have an easier time doing rhythm. Is this just a myth? Certainly it may be more aesthetically pleasing to watch certain body types perform certain styles of dance but is there really any physics behind the claim that for some body types certain styles are easier?

try things like "body type"......you can also simply go to the ballroom forum and start several pages back and scan those pages ...I know we have had conversations about exactly this...with the conclusion being that there are advantages and disadvantages to most body types but that you learn to be smart about it

I tried searching by putting in all kinds of different words into the search engine. I didn't get anywhere. Would you minding linking a thread about this discussion please?

larinda, i am not new to searching. i, too, tried searching the topic and came up with shortening chiffon skirts and other irrelevancies. more helpful response?

seriously Larinda what is the matter with you? I had one thread when I first came here in which I was argumentative. I think you're being unfair. I've been very cooperative and constructive in my more recent posts.

Also that thread you're talking about doesn't contain any explanations as to why certain body types have more success in particular styles apart from aesthetics. Obviously long limbed people look better doing smooth/standard. I'm wondering if there are physical reasons that make it easier for long limbed people to do smooth and stocky people to do rhythm
