The Embrace as a motivating factor.

Because I don't want to dance with someone who's beautiful but a rubbish dancer. Cute is OK for looking at but dancing requires someone who feels good and has the requisite skills. If they've got those they can be as ugly as sin but they'll be great to dance with and no amount of good looks can compensate for the lack of them.

Surely no-one could be shallow enough to think otherwise.........?

Yes I could be ... :p

Fact is , the pretty women usually get lots of dances, so (unless they really are useless) they'll probably also be good dancers. *Sigh* - life's a bitch isnt it?

Yes, but women are used to us men being shallow about these things. It's a good thing for ugly guys like me, that women aren't nearly as shallow as we are.

you know what, if the prime motivation of a guy is to get his hands on me for being under 50 nd under 20 stone, I can tell and will turn down his request. We are not stupid, us girls, we can spot an old lech a mile off.

OK, you all flunk... I tried to introduce a concept that perhaps your generation has already relegated to political incorrectness...it's called SEx APPEAL ! If you don't 'get it' ..then, you don't get it... sorry, 'bout that. ... Crikey
LOL. Talk about out of touch...

It's not about political correctness. It's not something that "our generation" (whatever generation that is) lacks.

Some of us couldn't believe you'd so start a thread so blatantly about wanting to dance with someone on account of the sex appeal.

Look, yes, there is a physical component to tango. I'd be the last person to deny their enjoyment of the physical component. But sex appeal? Oh hells no. I'm not thinking about my partners in a sexual way, and I hope to god they're not thinking of me in that way. If they are...Spec nailed it: old lech. End of story. If it's about getting to feel a sexy woman for the span of 10 minutes in a socially acceptable (not really) way...please quit dancing and go take a cold shower.

Bringing sensuality into things is beautiful, and enjoyable. Enjoying the physical side of the dance is enjoyable. Making it into something about sex...??? Ick. Just, ick.

With all due respect...

Sex appeal? Is your post about the (hidden) motivating factor that, this is the driver for the embrace? I thought you were alluding to some ambiguous technique that you did not understand. I didn't think this was a quiz.

Regarding your comment, I think not. I would seem juvenile to think so. The desire for close physical contact, possibly. The beauty of synchronized motion to the music without verbal instruction, yes. But sex appeal as a driver for embrace? There are a few of these individuals in Seattle. They are called "Creeps." They can be easily spotted and are avoided.

Me thinks Ampster actually understands that a girl doesn't want to dance with a guy who's thinking about spending 10 minutes getting to feel her t*ts...who respects her as a dancer, and as someone else who is there for non-sexual reasons.

The fear of my wife going "Elin" on me with a golf club or something, has pretty much kept me in line.

I dont know what "Elin" is, but I get your point - lol

I've said it before, but once you've been pressed against a thousand chests, I'm surprised you can be distracted that way ...
