The Movie Miami Vice

I enjoyed this movie.

It had kind of a modern approach to it's look, as opposed to the costuming used in the 80s. It's plot line wasn't top notch, but it had some decent twists. Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell did well, and Gong Li was good to watch. :raisebro:

It even had some salsa in it.

(DP, the scenes of Farrell dancing with Li were kind of like those of Pacino in Scent of a Woman.)

Good point, but it was still nice to see the dancing included, just like with Scent of a Woman. :bouncy:

actually the dancing wasn't bad - could've been way worse. but the character Colin played just seemed like he wouldn't be a dancer.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the salsa included! The plot of ridiculous, but who goes in to watch these movies with their thinking cap on? I had fun :)

i remember watching miami vice in the 80s even though it was COMPLETELY at odds with my personal aesthetics at the time, and being entranced by it. so even though the movie fell outside my normal range of "must-see's," i went.

i went to the movie by myself, and had a ball. the last time i went to a movie by myself, i felt lonely and unhappy. this time around, i had fun and was pleased that noone was there to bother my quality time with myself ;)

I loved the show but hated the movie.

Also, IMO, the whole digital "filming" used made it look very "C.O.P.S." to me.

I went to see it with my SO (it was his idea).

He loved it. I didn't. Maybe it works better for men (esp if Gong Li is your type)? Colin Farrell's not my type, and Jamie Foxx was wasted in the sidekick role.

I found it *very* hard to follow the dialogue, which didn't help. And the salsa scene -- well the music was salsa. Not too sure about the dancing.

Hmm, I don't know if I'll go see this. I loved the TV show back in the day (partly because I was living there and I recognized a lot of the locations), but it was very much a creature of its time. I'm not sure that trying to revive it was such a good idea.

My eyes were so focused on the two main characters that were dancing, I didn't check to see if the extras knew what they were doing.
