the power of a smile

i was at a grocery store earlier today and being in somewhat of a daze, i wandered through without really being aware of much around me. as i headed down one of the aisles, a woman made eye contact with me and had the sincerest smile. just a smile. sadly, i was in such a daze that i dont know if i returned her smile. but i managed to look up at her.

as i drove away, her smile appeared in my mind and i remember thinking: gosh...that made my day. someone smiled at me for no reason. and it was such a warm and friendly smile...i felt the power behind it and i still do.

i needed that today.

That brought a smile to me. Thanks. :)

I do that a lot, like the woman who gave ya a smile. And it's funny cuz I have actually observed some people acted exactly the way you did too, like they didn't know if they were going to smile back or what...LOL..

I think we ALL need that! Thanks so much for sharing this story.
Seven years ago... I went to my first contra dance. I was so very impressed by the fact that EVERYONE dancing smiled ALL the time. Me too! It was SO much fun. Smiles and dance... a super combination! :)

smiling is something that im just learning to do in my adulthood. ive always been very self conscious and didnt smile much throughout my life. people always tell me to smile or ask me whats wrong...and it would annoy me. so i did it even less.

but now, i know the power of my own smile. i try to do it more. especially when i dance. it makes all the difference when youre dancing.

and oh yeah, i make more eye contact now too.

Come to think of it, my recent successful daliance in salsa may have been started by a smile. One follower told me to smile, that the women would relax and enjoy themselves if they saw that I was. So I started to, very awkwardly as I never do smile randomely. But it worked. It jump-started my first successful salsa night.
