Taxi dancing structured properly can be a valuable learning experience. I find 5 tanda lessons In a milonga with my instructor quite useful: we “debrief” after each dance and sometimes during the dance (while moving, of course!). Navigation tactics and musical interpretation (was that combination appropriate to the music?) are much of the discussion. Step Technique is for one on one lessons. As a man, given gender imbalance, I have no problem with choice of partners. But Dancing in the milonga with my instructor is an opportunity to get detailed, real time feedback in real life conditions. For women, taxi dancing often gives a chance to dance more. I see nothing wrong with it; snobbery is out of place here.
