Hmm... how about during the quickstep?

Oops, sorry I forgot that the NYT requires an annoying free registration to get to articles - I probably wouldn't have posted this if I remembered.

The article is about a so-called sport of "Extreme Ironing" involving ironing shirts in odd settings. Lead picture is a guy balanced on a pyrmaid of irnoning boards on a Boston street. Also has a slideshow with someone suspending in the gap between two rock faces in South Africa, hanging upside down over an ironing board, etc. It's the kind of article you would assume was a joke if it were publish 51 days ago - and still wonder if perhaps it should have been published then.

Hehe! Just regular ironing is extreme enough, when I'm the one doing it! That's the absolute worst bit of housework in existence. :x

Gosh... I'd hate to see the injury reports for this sport.

"He's on the disabled list with a blister on his ironing thumb. Boy, is he steamed."

Note to self for the next time I go to an improvisational comedy performance to suggest that topic...

P.S. So they'll start televising it on some cable TV network, and call it.. what... "Iron Iron"???

Hey, Etchuck, ironing CAN be dangerous! In Japan, where most daily activity is done on the floor, we have these ironing boards on little 6" legs. Once when I was ironing, sitting w/my legs folded under me and my left leg abutting the end of the board, I ironed over my blouse onto my THIGH! It was spring, and I was wearing shorts around. People kept asking my what that little triangular mark was on my leg(the tip of the iron!!!) ...

Cocodrilo, that reminds me of something I heard some time ago. An Australian girl was working in London as a nurse. She didn't have an ironing board so she decided to iron her uniform on the floor. Being in a bit of a rush, she forgot to switch the iron off and proceeded to change. Can't recall what she was doing but she apparently ended up sitting on the tip of the iron and burnt her behind. Apparently she had to call work and they sent an ambulance over. How embarassing!!

OUCH! That smarts!

"Umm, doctor, you take a look at this?"

(Certainly a situation where an Aussie was going to the hospital "to die")
