This Is Interesting . . .

It is definately number theory. 8) If you wonder what symbol it will be just look at the symbol after 0... It seems like the answer can only be 0 9 18 27 36 45 54 63 72 and 81, which means 9*[0 9]. I think these numbers will have the same symbol and the rest will be random. :p.

::spoiler::

unsettling at first, but it appears that there is a set of limited possible final numbers, and the site attributes the same symbol for each of those numbers, changing each time. so it seems to be reading your mind but... not really. :)

i love these sorts of number games... very cute.

oops... there were no comments when i began my post, then got distracted by a conversation, during which everyone & his cousin noticed the trick... lol

original number = n = 10x + y (x,y are digits, x <> 0)
sum of digits = sum = x + y
difference = d = (10x + y) - (x + y) = 9x

By definition, a digit is in the [0,9] range. Since x is a digit, 9x will always be a multiple of 9 that's in the range [0,81].

That's why the symbols for all multiples of 9 in that range are the same.

you'll get different symbols for the same number because they substitute different symbols for all the possible answers each time you try...
:)
What she said. :) All numbers will have random symbols with the constraint that the possible answers have the same symbol. :)

Ps. Nice and easy breakdown there quixotedlm. :D (Now I'm convinced that it is really 9x)
