Tricks to keeping dry

Another poster inspired this. He was primarily talking about keeping his hands dry, and I thought I'd expand this to keeping dry in general.

So what sorts of tips and tricks do the rest of you have?

I'll usually keep a small hand towel in a backpack, and towel off between songs. I also know guys who wore undershirts. I even know guys who had a 2nd shirt packed away.

I suppose ladies can keep cooler by showing more skin... 8)

Thoughts, suggestions?

I'm an undershirt guy myself but that is starting to not be effective either. I am thinking of maybe covering myself in talculm powder and seeing how that works.

Little things that help though, I sweat less if I drink soda during the night rather than water. I drink water before the night to be properly hydrated.

I am still trying to figure out how to control this issue.

A lot of guys around here do that. My teacher, who sweats a lot, packs several shirts for a long dance night.

I think I remember hearing that soda will dehydrate you...

By Soda I mean caffeinated drinks such as coke, pepsi, mountain dew, they will dehydrate you and so you will not sweat so much. The difference isn't huge but I do notice a slight difference in drinking coke as opposed to water.

Cultural problem. Here Soda is a kind of water with bubbles in it so I was a little bitt confused.

It is easier to control odor than to control sweat, so I always have deodorant in my dance bag. I at times also carry disposable body wipes, which really do a good job of cooling me down and keeping me smelling fresh.

Stepping outside for a few minutes when I find myself beginning to glow like a lava lamp helps too. I have had times when the only way to cool down was to pour some of my bottled water down my neck and back!

Also, for the ladies (and perhaps for some of the guys) starting the night with your hair pulled up helps to delay the sweating a little. I also find myself never dancing with tops on that have sleeves. If I were a guy I could never dance in long sleeved dress shirts. And of course, dancing in skirts instead of pants helps keep me a bit cooler.

music to my ears! :D

Skirts is the way to go ladies! Now, I have just given up. I have tried everything under the sun and moon and stars and there is nothing that has worked. I simply let my natural fluids flow without un problemo.

Just an aside:

Once a very cute man asked me to dance when I was all lathered up after dancing a few turbo salsas. I was a bit embarassed by my sweated self so I said to him. "Sure, I would like to dance, if you don't mind that I am all wet."

His reply (along with a flirty glare into my eyes), "I like my women wet."

Swoon...

i make someone hover around me carrying a fan

I have actually seen a guy (a guy!) using a fan. In Asia both sexes use them, here it is not so common... and this guy is German. His girlfriend picked up the habit, too. It is actually a efficient way of cooling down - plus you can make yourself popular by fanning others.
