Tumbao & Clave

what's the difference between the clave & tumbao?...I feel like I should know this by now, espeically since I dance on2 in class and on1 in the clubs...anyway, I'm not knowledgeable about music terminology, but if that would be helpful in explaining how that affects dancing on2 and/or on1, go for it.

wow! salsamerlizer rocks!
this can help too: go to el tattoo del tigre
(great band by the way), enter the site, click on 'play' (sorry i can't give you the direct link)
You can choose the instruments, together they'll play a funky mambo song.

Oo how frustrating! Better graphics, better sound quality, more instruments, and no timing!

SALSAMERLIZER is neat, and I like the morse code graphics. It looks techno :). If I may offer a suggestion: to label the columns "1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 5 & 6 & 7 & 8 &".

Thanks!

I will put it on the TODO list, though the evaluation period for my Flash tool runs out today so I have to decide whether to spend real money on it or not :-)

But my head's filling up with ideas for the salsamerlizer II so I expect I will do eventually :-)

an oldie

heres a way to count clave that will fit verbally with accent-- its been used for over 50 yrs by older salsero/s.

Shave-- haircut-- 2 bits .

sweavo, this is a brilliant little piece of work. you can sell this and make a little money! i know every instructor in salsa could use this -

Sweavie, this is great! Nice job man.

It sounds to me like the piano is off phrase though? Like it should be shifted back one beat? It doesn't jive with the clave to my ears...

The montuno pattern on there was completely made up by me so may well be lacking. AFAIR rhythmically it's the same as a basic example in Rebece Mauleon's Salsa Guidebook, but with the 2& dropped. Maybe that's what's causing your ears not to jive.
