Uncommon Types of Dance Venues

Every so often there is a Sunday afternoon dance that's held here in the hanger at a local air museum. Kind of neat if you have an interest in vintage aircraft; the dance area is between a B-29 and a C-46. Lots of room to dance too.

I've never been to a hanger dance, but they have held them before here in Atlanta. I'll bet you had a really good time.

One of my most memorable venues was a dance that was held to mark the 50th anniversary of VE Day in the Egyptian Ballroom in the Fox theater. They started with a concert by the Tommy Dorsey orchestra, followed by a move in the theater, "The Best Years of Our Lives", and ending with a dance with the Tommy Dorsey Orcestra. If only I was around back in the day.

...time to find out when the next Hanger Dance might be!

Doe not look at the moment like there will be another one of these hanger dances here; at least the band that plays at these does not have it on their schedule. Yes, those have been fun.

I take that back; there's another hanger dance scheduled for Feb 16th, but with a different band.

Our dance group renteed a house boat one time. We dance on the deck and floated around the boat to cool off. We attracted lots of attention from others and people would come by and let us use their jet skis or take us for a ride on their motor boat. The upper deck was huge and there was plenty of room to dance. Swaying to the music had a new meaning.

The Lindy group here has held demonstrations at nursing homes here and the studios from time to time will do this at the shopping malls.

There's also going to be one of these here in Tucson at the Pima Air and Space Museum, but it certainly won't cost as much; just $9.75 and that's the general admission price into the museum. The dance itself is free.

Backyard BBC

One of my favorites is the party one gives at their home; get out the music and dance the night away along with the steak, chicken and burgers from off the grill.

Let the good times roll! 8)

We have an annual Hangar dance too!! It's this Saturday and it's our first time going. Several of the people from the studio go ever year and say it's a blast.. It's a 1940's theme swing dance with a live orchestra.. I'm really looking forward to it...

It will be interesting to hear how that goes. We went to a special dance once. A 'Swing Club' was there and um... they dance to EVERYTHING. They'll even swing to a tango. So it kind'a chokes up the floor for any ballroom dancers.

Ah, that brings up a fond memory. I was a relatively new dancer and took on
the challenge of trying to weave my scant international foxtrot through a floor
full of ECS dancers ;-)
