USADance questions

Looks like my plans to compete Bronze can finally be set in motion again!
I'm pretty sure Daphna has come down with an "oh hell, no" to the idea of both you and mindputtee competing in low syllabus levels with me. Which presents an obvious solution - we clearly just need to implement a Daphna Point System. :p

I know of one instance where sandbaggers drove a couple off. Maybe they were being overly sensitive, but they did give up competing.

Meh. It's Friday and the beer runs cold, so...

The Daphna point system would incorporate the Same-Sex system of classification. Before every event all the couples dancing a style would be graded from E to A with A being the highest (or we could keep Bronze=E Silver=D, Gold=C, Novice=B, Pre-Champ=A, Champ=A+. A couple's classification would vary depending on who was there and which couples you were competing against. We would do this for each age group and so there could be many grading rounds. We could potentially have couples first pre-classify themselves as syllabus or open and then the judges would do the rest of the classifications. This would probably make the different levels more equal in terms of the numbers of couples there are in each level, since you are competing against the couples actually there and not an idealized version, plus you would never really be sure of your placement, which would be a great way to build excitment in the ballroom.

Excellent!

(Glad you took my joke in the spirit it was intended. I was a little afraid it might come off as snarky rather than the friendly kidding I'd meant it as.)

Actually JudeMorrigan, your comment/joke doesn't even come close to my definition of snarky :)
