Valentina's ballgowns

Has anyone had any experience with Valentina's (NYC) ballgown-making skills? Are they decent quality? I'm thinking about buying my own fabrics to give her, but I was just wondering how well they generally hold up. Thanks!

BUYER BEWARE!! I travelled 6 hours 4 times for day trips to see her for a dress that she was making me. She made the apt w/ me and nothing new was done to it since last time, then I needed it for a certain comp which she promised me, no stones were ordered. So I called for an update, willing to go for another trip... needless to say she said it was done and it was going to be shipped, this was 2 years ago and I NEVER recieved a dress. What a headeache. I also called and faxed after that and she never answered / returned my calls. I suggest that you LIVE in NY and can go there easily and that you know Russian / someone who can translate for you. I do have a friend in NY that has had 2 dresses that were successful by here and one that was a disaster! Hope this helps..

I've never had a dress made by her myself, but many of my friends have. Until I read your post, I had never heard anything less than wonderful about her. Everyone I know was thrilled with her.

Thanks for the sentiment. It was 2 years ago - It all seemed to be going really well.... I hugged her and everything! Then it was over....:(
What got me was that I had to travel in and out of NY in a day to see her everytime, it was not convenient. I Have seen the other dresses that she has made for friends and they are wonderful, I guess I was a bit jealous that they were able to get something great and I got nothing but a sketch. But you are correct- it was easier for them to go to her since they were in the city and then another dancer spoke Russian so she could call her and explain things she wanted done.
