Vest Repair

Okay, just an hour after praising my Dore vest in another thread, I get it out of the closet to prepare for a performance tonight only to find that the satin on one of the lapels has badly faded. I have no idea what I've done to cause this, but I'm now looking for a way to fix it.

The lapels are much like the satin-covered notched lapels on a modern tuxedo jacket (very similar to the sample vest on their main page, though of a different cut: http://www.dore-designs.com/photos/big/427.jpg ). Does anyone know if it is possible to remove and replace the satin without damaging the rest of the garment? Is this something a local tailor could do or will I have to send it back to Dore?

Typically the manufacturer can match the fabric easier than the local tailor unless you want to or have to change out the entire lapel satin. I would suggest sending it back to Dore, letting them know when you need it by and what happened. Call ahead to make arrangements and note who you talk to about the problem. The fabric may have had a reaction with sweat, or perfume, or sunlight, or dye transfer from another fabric. I've never had a problem with anything I've returned to the manufacturer to repair.
