Video Material of Guaguanco, anyone?

I've just finished my jazz dance approach to timba. My next phase is to tackle timba from a guaguanco perspective (I'm not limber enough for rumba columbia :cry: )

So I'm wondering: Do any of my DF buddies know of any video materials, preferably in DVD format, that display or teach guaguanco?

Borkien? Pelao? Salsa-rhythms? Anyone?

As you can expect, stuff like that is as rare as hen's teeth here.

God, this is a tough one. the best I can do is give you this website [google]Djoniba Dance[/google] (http://www.djoniba.com/) and maybe you can contact them to help you in your quest. If they can't you might want to ask if you can speak to Pupy, he is one of the 2 instructors in AfroCuban dance who is really qualified to teach such in NY City (IMHO), and he might be able to further help. Yeah, I can't help much either. Only thing I've seen is in my old-skool salsa videos, when they dance guaganco, they would dance it kinda like the mambo style but more modernized (almost like mixing together the basic mambo steps with todays more common 'club' steps) and they would also add a bunch of random steps to it. Looks really hot. Other than that, I can't say much; I'm not too keen on the dance aspect of things.

Now, musically, I could definitely help ya.
 
This might be a long shot, but it might be worth a shot:

There is this DJ named Gustavo Clark, "El General", based in Seattle. He was very helpful when I visited Seattle back in '99. He has some expertise on guaguanco, as I remembered......he was also teaching dancing at the time.

I am sure links to reach him would be on Seattle salsa related sites.....I remember reading lots about him......

Don't I know about it. I've been trying to prepare for it with some jazz and Brazillian exercises, but I get the feeling guaguanco's going to hit me like a ton of bricks (this could be my last post... :( ).

Tropical Gem in Italy has released instructional video and in one of them some Rumba Body moves are shown a friend told me. Their site is in italian but they speak english, so contact them to get further information. www.tropicalgem.it
