VMA... and Britney

Ok, so by now, everyone and their dog has heard about the Britney debacle on MTV's VMAs, but there is absolutely no way to see the video of this terrible, awfu, oh-so-make-me-wanna-see-it horror show. I hate myself for wanting to see it so badly... why do I want to? But what makes me want to see it even more is the fact that I CAN'T. There's nowhere on the internet that I can go to see this thing. Apparently it's been taken down everywhere. And MTV's site won't play it outside of the US for copyright reasons.

RRRRRRGH! I'm so sorry, Britney, that I want to see your performance. Or are you happy I want to see your performance? It's so weird. It's a phenomenon. It's one of Those Moments. Like the wardrobe malfunction or Jacko in PJs. I've just gotta SEEEE it!

Does anyone know how I can?

Oooh.. it's here. http://my.break.com/media/view.aspx?ContentID=364332

Hah. So there. Well I just wasted about three minutes of my life. Sigh. Actually the video isn't quite as terrible as everyone made it out to be. Yeah, it's bad, but she doesn't look THAT awful, and the lip-synching was frightening, and the stumbling was a bit concern-inducing... but really, if she were sober, this might have actually been a decent number, by over-sexed, pop-rock, MTV standards...

lol... i saw it on cnn or nbc or some such thing. all the fuss 'twas quite deserved, it seems! :)

I felt the same way. Thank you for articulating that.

I felt unsure and self conscious and shaky many times after a big change and time away.

After baby-making and trauma, she's different now, inside and out and it'll take awhile to refocus and integrate her changes...

She simply looks unsure of herself. Either because the choreography is unfamiliar and she underprepared, or personally she is unsure of herself. At worst, both. With time her confidence and performance will come back. She has been through a lot. It may take awhile before we see the Britney that we saw grow up into a beautiful woman.

it seems it's something a little practice rather than partying would have alleviated...

I do sorta feel sorry for Britney and all those other harassed Hollywood tween types - about as much pity as I can generate for someone worth a quarter billion, lol. But it's good proof about how money can't buy happiness.

There's apparently a video blog where a woman has gotten really upset about all the Britney bashing. There was a writeup of the drama here on MSN.

From the snippets of the performance I saw, it was lackluster. She looked unsure, unsteady, and not ready to be back at it. Meh. I don't like to perform, so I can't say that I particularly blame her.

I'm just kinda ticked at all the hoopla about her being "fat." For chrissakes, the girl had 2 kids, and besides which...since when is that "fat?" She looks pretty healthy to me. Granted, maybe the sequined bra and underwear wasn't the most flattering thing...but for the love of god...she's not fat.

(And i will admit bias here...I'm built very similar to her as she is now, it would seem, and I kind of take issue with being called "fat," even by proxy. I'm not as skinny as I'd like, but I don't particularly consider myself "fat.")

I think the "fat" is only compared to how she used to look in a sparkly bra and panties. Apparently there was supposed to be a corset with it that she nixed at the last minute - after two kids and time off, that's just bad judgement.

Not the news commentary I heard.

Agree with the bad judgement, though.

"Roughly an hour before showtime, Ms. Spears insisted on a series of changes. She clashed with Ken Paves, the high-end hairstylist chosen to do her hair extensions. She also decided not to wear the custom-fitted corset designed for the performance, opting for a black bikini-style costume that revealed more of her body. Her physical appearance during her set also faced a barrage of criticism. "

Not that it really matters in the grand scheme. I just have nothing better to do than surf the internet this evening.

well if she's fat I am morbidly obese...and, as others have said she looked uncertain of herself...from my observation, that was due more to being stoned than anything else, but that is likely also a reflection of uncertainty
