Hello everybody

Firstly I would like to say what a great resource! Cant believe I just found this webiste. Thank you admins and mods for setting it up.

I am a beginner to dancing and want to learn to dance to Funky House/Electro. Where do I begin?

Many thanks

Welcome shaz! Yep, this place resource I've found on the net. I'm glad you like it here.

While I'm a strictly standard and latin kind of gal, I'm sure there will be someone here who can help you.

Welcome again, MBB.

I dunno about house but I personally love to dance to electro beats, especially happy hardcore, I just love the wave of upbeat energy.

The first thing I would learn is how to pop and lock (it'll take some practice but you can get it down even if you're a beginner). A lot of Bboying moves (particularly the basic ones) are great for electronic beats.

Other than that tho I can't really help ya, if ur looking for instructionals, "Break Dance Step by Step" helped me out a lot, I still haven't done much in the way of power moves "mainly because I don't have much space to practice them" but the basic stuff "toprock, pop and locking, twist o flex, etc." can all be applied to basic electro beats.

Hope this was helpful, not exactly sure if it's what ur looking for tho.

Pretty much what Adonis Reborn said.
Also try learning some whacking.
I'm just learning house/voguing/whacking right now at school.
House is a really great style.
If you want a good underground-ish style try Melbourne Shuffle, it's gaining popularity in clubs and stuff, and is danced to house or hardstyle trance/techno.

It's the only dance I know in which the running man looks cool.
