I think maybe after the scandals in earlier years, it makes sense that they released the WDSF Code of Ethics for officials, adjudicators, athletes and more. What they have done is made more clear what represents a conflict of interest or improper conduct, and then put in place at least "some" requirements for transparency, though I would love to see more (not just in the WDSF).
I guess in many cases we are dealing with judges who are also organizers who are also coaches. Often there really is not "official" ethical standards they must uphold in doing business. They can easily collude with one another in many different ways from the way they enforce rules, to the people they hire for their competition, to the people they choose to coach, and more. Maybe it could be just spreading rumors about people so they won't be as successful.
There is not always a clear cut case to be made that anyone is doing anything wrong, and there is little transparency to anything about it if they are doing something unethical. While these rules don't go far enough, I welcome more growth in this area so there can be a fair playing field for all those involved in DanceSport.
