As
I wrote before I find that tango is no all-in-one dance at all. Up to the dirty aera tango tandas were alternated with swing, salsa, and pop tandas to attend other dance feelings and atmospheres. As far as I know the generals prohibited to play other than tango music at the traditional venues. When the ban was canceled later again, pop, jazz and R&R already could stand on their own feet.
For me any waltz would fit perfectly as a wedding song
so what about
Vibraciones del Alma (bc there is so much VW in it)
that's lovely, I agree.
I think its a really personal thing, and both in the couple have to like the piece of music. Somebody I knew (non-AT dancers) were going to tango to Por Un Cabeza..i rolled my eyes...
if the lyrics are ignored;
Tú…el cielo y tú (1944)
there is a Di sarli/Podesta version and a Rodriquez/Moreno version. I prefer the former.
You…the Heavens and You
lyrics by Hector Marcó
Your handkerchief is lukewarm, still—
I kept reliving your farewell
on that shadowy dock.
Lukewarm, like the dying afternoon sun,
my snowy sun, with no hope
and no songbirds.
I keep the lukewarm kiss that you left
on my lips when you moved on,
because I still haven’t forgotten you.
You…
I know the heavens,
the heavens and you,
will come to save
my hands, bound to this cross.
If this audacious lie
seeks my pain,
you will not discover
that it condemns me.
Keep it safe with you—
since it is my affection—
to disillusion me
would be crueler still.
No…
don’t repeat that farewell …
the only ones who know about it are God,
the heavens, and you…
