West coast jive

I was told by someone that west coast swing steps has been used in majjor jive competitions from long time ago. Is this true? If so how did it get mixed in?

Steps are steps; if people want to borrow and steal from other dances, they're welcome to try it. If it works, then others do it.

I've heard that in the past some Latin couples worked with Buddy Schwimmer. Might have been Donny and Gaynor but I'm not sure.

shows how naive I was. I thought international jive was by the books and west coast swing was not an option.

I wouldn't try it in a bronze syllabus event, but so long as it LOOKS like Jive, Open is Open.

They use sugar pushes and left and right side passes, whips and syncopated whips. Hmmm, never really thought about it.

Argentine tango dancers would probably cringe, but sure, you could use elements of Argentine tango.

That's how I've always thought of American tango: Argentine patterns with international styling.

You need to remember... Jive is a newcomer on the " block " and borrowed from several of the Swing genres...
