What are the best beer you've ever had?

Used to LOVE Guiness...but then I got drunk (and sick) off it, so no more Guiness for me.

Have you tried Smithwicks, F? It's similar to Guiness, IIRC, but not quite so...thick.

Smithwicks is my FAVORITE! It's actually made by the same makers as Guinness...and I believe has only been legal in the states for the past couple of years. I have some Irish friends who used to *ahem* get it for us.

Ok ... if MQ like Smithwick's, then I guess can find it and try it. :car:

i also love spicy jamaican-style ginger beer...

I'll definite go try a smithwicks now... I don't know what ginger beer is but I'll go try that too... and maybe make that Moscow Mule mixed drink!

Wasn't sure whether to put this in the DWTS thread or here, so I opted for this thread:

This is a quote from Cliff Clavin (Cheers):

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

I'm not much of a beer aficianado, so I'd say the best beer I ever had, was because of the circumstances rather than the actual product.

Just out of college, I had never lived outside the East Coast before, and had just moved out to Colorado. Being a typical ignorant kid, I had heard all about how the weather was going to be (again from ignorant folk who had never lived west of the Mississippi, lol), and how I'd constantly have to deal with snow and cold.

Anyway, it was mid-January, sunny and about 60 degrees, and I was having a beer at lunch with some friends outside on the patio of the Rock Bottom Brewery on the 16th Street Mall. Meanwhile, my home town in NJ was suffering thru the worst snowstorm since 1888.

Makes me smile still while thinking about it...

best beer for me is always the cold two i drink after a long day of moving, especially in summer. accompanied, obviously, by pizza out of a box whilst sitting on a crate.

It's pronounced "smithicks" here. Funny!

LMAO! Actually I heard the pronunciation from the friends of mine from Ireland who first introduced me to it. So, probably completely different than any way we'll here it in the states.
