What are you currently 'working on' in A.T.?-Vol.II

I almost bought this arguement but then I thought of all the cultural differences and how, here in Mexico, I am still uncomfortable with having to kiss every woman when I meet them (on the cheek) and when I part..so, a hand squeeze seems harmless at this point. It's not llike I'm squeezing her waist for god's sake. ..but I do appreciate the feedback..now, if you were from England...;)
You "almost bought this argument?" Excuse me?!?! I hope you didn't mean it in the way it comes across, because...wow, what an unbelievably rude thing to say.

*/off topic: it's twenty-some flippin' degrees outside, and windy to boot, and freakin' COLD and some kid just went running down the street in a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops! Good grief. I know I must be getting old, because my second thought (after OM *expletive deleted* god) was "Her mother let her out of the house dressed like that in this weather?")/*

I don't know if it's a cultural thing so much. It's funny that you mention the kissing hello/goodbye--that's one thing which has never bothered me, because it's how I grew up greeting everyone on my father's side of the family. To me, kissing as a greeting is perfectly normal. (I can never remember, though, if the Argentine custom is just for one kiss or two...that' always messes me up.)

I think the finger squeeze thing is a case of establishing lines where you can. Yes, it's very intimate...so care is taken so that despite the physical contact things don't become about anything more than jus the dancing...and for me the squeeze is too much like a caress, which crosses that line.

to exercise patience

Been out of luck yesterday: Only a wrong step on the stairs of the underground and there was this unmistakable crrrrrack in my left knee. Got a splint, crutches, diclofenac, and was shoven into the magnetic resonance tube: disruption of the joint capsul

I must pause for weeks

Sorry to hear about the injury. I hope you are dancing again soon.

That's terrible. :( I hope your recovery is swift and painless.

ouch! yes best of luck with the recovery ..

Oh thank you all for your wishes. That will help ! You can imagine how frustrated I am. Already cancelled the tango holidays in March.

But thats not all: You know I posted rather self-confidently about my private-public DP constellation (I and my girl friend use to have own DPs). That was not generously !! That was reckless !! So, she is gone, too. I should have read the horoscope of 2010 more precicely.

It´s amazing how fragile we are...one has to really look around when walking, etc.. in the real world. I live in cobble stone Mexico where no one seems to be responsible for any walkways nor even the aisles inside a store...one slip and weeks of dancing can be lost, or more.
Recover soon! Watch a lot of YouTube meanwhile.

I can related to what you are going through. A year ago at this time, I was out of commission from my surgery. Watching videos definitely helped me get through it (although I think it gave me a bit more of a critical eye when watching them).

The biggest issue I had when starting up again was my stamina (and at times, my balance). Believe it or not, the time off might have helped my dance, (although it's likely some of the compliments I got were from people being nice, due to my return).

I find the same. Often when I dance with a girl who's taking teaching and she apologises in advance for being rusty due to a few weeks off, she's considerably improved. I believe time off lets the mind forget bad stuff whilst the body retains good stuff.

It could be true. Although if I forget all my bad stuff, there wouldn't be much left.

;-)

Working on forward walks now. I could tell what I was doing wrong, but couldn't figure out how to fix it. Teacher broke it all down for me so I am vowing to spend enough time practicing that there will be an improvement by next lesson.
