Just wanted to start a bit of a discussion going..... One of my newest routines, and my favorite, is one that i dance to " Un nuorvo digiorno" by Andrea Bocelli from his newest album "Andrea"
{broken link removed}
What are you guys dancing to right now?????

I'm still dancing to the same crap that's been on the Music Machine in our studio for the past three years. I really should make and bring in some new CDs because it's really getting old. Especially the tangos. Feh.

My current favorite samba is "Ya Viene el Sol (The Beatle Bob Remix)" - track 10 on the Ozomatli cd "Street Signs."

Oooh . . . so cool . . . 8)

I think I have that CD...must listen to it again...

And welcome to df ob_genius! :) AB - I never heard of him before.

Foxtrots to rumba music. With actual foxtrot music I want to be lyrical, but not having gone far with latin I still have this very metronomic half-beat counting going through my head whenever I hear rumba. That plus the slow tempo helps meter out actions very purposefully... in practice of course.

I have no qualms about admitting to be a big Sinatra fan, but I got a Dean Martin CD for Christmas and there is a great mixture of fox trots, waltz's and rumba's on it. I listen to it in secret and would never bring it to work. I know no one who would admit to be being a Dean Martin fan. And, I think, before I started dancing, I would not have liked this CD either.

Really? He's been around for years...credited with injecting some interest in opera(tic) music, yet often derided for being a one-trick pony of a singer.

He's fabulous! He sang with Eros Ramazzotti(Italian pop singer) on a CD I have. Isn't he the blind singer?

I am currently listening to MORE bossa nova as my husband, out percussionist & I are going to do some "unplugged" live performances. This is bound to be cool(our current drummer pounds the h#ll out of bossa nova. Don't need a drummer for this music!)...

LOVE these guys(all because I'm a jazz standards snob and they're the best!). You have to include Tony Bennet in there somewhere, too! What a dreamy voice! Hope to do some of his songs (like "Just in Time") in the near future with the jazz band.

Definitely Tony Bennet, but if we are listing favorites, we got to add Mel Torme. And if you want to talk dreamy voices (and I am really saying this quietly), let's talk Jack Jones!

right now, i'm listening to Sergent Garcia's 'La Semilla Escondida'. its the only thing that gets me going in the morning... salsa, reggae, rock they've combined it all. i love that stuff. they're from paris, but they're cuban/latino. lots of energy and warmth.
same mold as Manu Chao. in the sense that the musician is french/latino, and both those influences are seen in the music
