What is the Hip Lift Technique?

Cannot like Larinda's comment enough. If you cannot grasp this concept via the Internet ( big surprise) i suggest the following options

Take a lesson with Bree Watson she can demonstrate the difference in an American rumba walk and a Latin rumba walk with no doubt in your mind which is which and how to do one or the other.

Go to a hip lift seminar

A lesser Option is to watch video of how Natalie paramanov's walks changed when she left Latin to do rhythm. Tho not as clear / extreme an example as Bree it's a good start

So glad I learned this from Bree directly. It would be hard to Internet learn for sure

I like this a lot. I agree that it would be very hard to grasp the concept via the Internet.

Every time I've seen this thread, I've imagined Morpheus saying, "Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Hip Lift Technique is. You have to see it for yourself." (Yes, I am quite the geek.)

It amuses me greatly that that might not be all that far from the truth.

Looks pretty much like current int. latin technique with big efforts not to step on straight leg, which then unnaturally straightens a moment later (fwd break at least, which almost isn't used in basic form in int. latin anymore)

Yes, in forward walks, it very much feels to me like an attempt to make it like Latin, which then makes its a bit disjointed because of the bent leg.
