What kind of dancing do you specialize in? I don't mean what kind of dancing you have experience with, because many of us have tried it all. :)

What do you train in/work on the most?

I work most on smooth and standard since I compete in those two. Some day, though, I am hoping to compete in all 4 styles. But it probably won't happen until I am done paying for my son's education.

I suppose your post already encompasses this, but I do a lot more Standard, simply because that's what I've been focusing on; lately I'm making a renewed effort in Latin, and know I'll get there too.

I think there are a lot of people out there like me, some of whom eventually stop working on one style, or who go on to become ten-dancers. Or compete in one style and teach or dance others for fun and profit. For example, I'd love to do more Smooth also, but simply haven't had the time to increase my level, but I imagine I'll be involved with it on some level. I wish I would suddenly find an extra 20 hours per week I don't know what to do with.

Same here, I dance only standard, and train only in this style. Would love to bring up the level of my latin, but there is no time..

I've been going back and forth between latin and standard for years, depending on which sort of partner I can get my hands on at the time. :)

if there is anyone on DF left who doesn't know it...standard and smooth are my favorite, and I also do rhythm and latin...dabbled in the rest...I am thinking this thread belongs in general dance if you are really curious re some of the other styles

I don't know what to vote. Currently I do a very strange mix of dances. I do Rhythm and Smooth, but with lots of Latin/Standard technique and we also do dances that aren't in Rhythm, such as Jive and Samba. Plus I do more Latin/Rhythm than Smooth/Standard, so should I vote for Latin? Rhythm? Both? :?

I haven't specialized in anything. What's the expression - jack of all trades and master of none. That pretty well sums it up.

I'm with you, Purr and T_E.

I do mostly Argentine tango. But I can muddle my way through smooth (except vw) pretty effectively...and I love QS...I do mostly rhythm...but can be persuaded to attempt a samba...

I intend to start working on standard more than anything else, though. Starting with my lesson this Friday. For medal tests.

For the past year I've been Smooth+Rhythm, for about two years before that only Latin competitively, and was a 19-dancer before that. I'm much happier as a 9-dancer these days.

I should point out that I think the results of this poll will be highly biased toward smooth/rhythm/standard/latin, it being conducted in the "ballroom dance" section of this board...

I'm the one, lonely little vote for Argentine Tango?

Alright, it's time for me to do some serious work corrupting you people! :raisebro:
