What makes a movie

a good movie for you? How do you know that you have been drawn into the movie/plot? Or, that an actor/actress has you believing in or empathesing with their role?

Even though the cinema is selling softdrinks and popcorn, have you ever smuggled in your own loot

Depends on the day. Sometimes, I want mindless fluff. Other times, only true excellence will do. So my list of favorite movies includes some classics and some absolute rubbish, from a critical standpoint. I do know the difference, but I'm able to enjoy both without prejudice. 8)

And as for smuggling loot? Well... yes. But only when I was on a diet. And I always buy at least a lo-cal drink. Do you have any ideas how many calories there are in movie theater popcorn? You'd think they would offer lower calorie alternatives, but they don't. :?

Communication.

Isn't it the same as dance/theater?

If the piece/movie communicates on an individual level to a member of the audience, then it is a good piece/movie.

This is regardless of if it is fluff or drama.

If I leave the theater different then I walked in (even if only entertained or relaxed) then it is a good dance/movie.

Yes, I've smuggled in bottled water, and candy, too.

If I buy anthing, it's the kids "reel deal", which consists of a small drink, a small popcorn and a candy treat. It's just about the right amount for what I want to snack on during a movie. And it's less expensive than the adult size.

Hell yeah! 4 bucks for a bag of popcorn? 4 bucks for a coke? Are they crazy?

I usually wear pants with many pockets, raincoats with deep pockets. But never tried (Kramer-like) to smuggle a latte in my pants!

GR, at 4 bucks your popcorn is cheap. I paid $5 for a small popcorn yesterday when i went to see "Troy" - finally.
In answer to the question, i will start smuggling in my own.
