What to wear for "night club" type dances in competition?

Like others said, if it's the same day as rhythm I'm going to wear exactly the same thing. I have some nice practice wear though if it isn't, and I usually wear my hair in a loose ponytail. If I put it up too high, it ends up smacking my amateur partner in the face...
 
Resurrecting this thread, because I'm thinking of dancing some club dances in November. The link to the Chris gave is gone. Does anyone have video of competitors in club dances at an NDCA event?

is it themed? sometimes they have themes and people do go all out with costumes. I think my favorite one I saw was a classic tv theme - lots of star trek, lucille ball. Don't remember what comp. Otherwise, nice practicewear always seems to fit the bill.

Sometimes some of the comps that are promoting night club night at their competitions have photos of dancers from last year on their websites or facebook pages, showing how much fun their nightclub night is. Or you could try looking through the professional photo link from last year's competition (if it's available) for the particular competition you're going to. Seems like the last few years people have been having fun with the costuming for those dances, though I think it varies by competition. (I haven't attended comps lately, but have seen photos here and there on facebook from friends, etc.)
 
Yep- check to see... if they are on a different day, there’s themes a lot now. I’ve worn sequined disco rompers, a practice dress with jewelry... heck, one time it was super hero themed and my teacher dressed as Thor and I was Wonder Woman.

Themed club nights seem to be how people are having more fun with comps and not taking them so seriously. A recent one in Cincinnati I think even did karaoke as a part of it.

But I’ve also done them in my regular rhythm dress when it’s on the same day.

What’s the comp you’re going to? Different organizers definitely bring different vibes to them.

Go to the competition's official Facebook page, and scroll back to last year. There are some videos of nightclub dances from last year there on FB. :)
