A pack of ho hos.

What's this?

It's a close cousing of a ding dong.

Cream filled chocolate cake thingys.... :)

With all deference to my dear Peach, an accurate but thoroughly inadequate description.

Ho hos are Hostess's answer to an even greater original--Drakes' Yodels. I will speak of the Yodel, since that was the original. Individually wrapped in silver foil, they are chocolate cakes with a cream filling, rolled so that the filling swirls in a circular pattern, and covered with another layer of chocolate. In their Hostess variety, they come three to a pack, and you can buy them at better gas stations across the US.

I should also mention that Ho Hos and Yodels really come in second to Funny Bones, another Drake product--chocolate cakes with a peanut butter cream filling and covered in chocolate. I also very much miss my Yankee Doodles, excellent chocolate cup cakes with cream but no frosting of any sort.

Finally, the Ring Ding is the Drake version of the Hostess Ding Dong, to which Peach refers, but is as superior to that as....

....well, I'm not gonna get regional here.

And real afficionados might remember the Big Wheel, which came to the fore sometime in the 70s, before we started getting politically correct about Native Americans.

End of digression. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Would that be the equivalent/similar to what we would call a Swiss roll?

Thanks for the commercial break

Yes, but I wasn't sure whether most people knew what Swiss rolls were. You now know of my junk food addictions.

i prefer the snowball: marshmellow, coconut & chocolate cake & cream filled center. this is true ambrosia. and of all the major supermarket chains around here the only one that carries them is the farthest away by a number of miles (or 1.6 as many kilometers for those of you on the metric system). i would stockpile but these are actually stamped with expiration dates (unlike your ho ho's & twinkies).

If we're talking snack foods, let's talk Drakes Devil Dogs!!!! And Tastykake Orange Cups. (Moment of silence in the presence of greatness.)

Disclaimer: I haven't read all of this thread. Okay. I've read NONE of this thread. LOL

When I'm depressed, I make a list. I take a piece of lined paper and fold it lengthwise. Then in the left column, I write everything that's wrong with my life. That's pretty cathartic all by itself. Then, in the right column, I write something I can do about every corresponding item in the left column -- not necessarily a solution, just a first step. Then I pick the five easiest things on the list and force myself to complete them. That day. Right away. And I ALWAYS feel better pretty much immediately. My life's disappointments somehow seem less insurmountable if I'm doing something concrete, however small, to solve my own problems.

It's tough. Right now not making much progress and I see all the followers from my AT beginners class taking the intermediate class... I know I'm not ready, but still!! Even dancing salsa during the break...still tough. :( As usual the dj, my AT instructor asks me to dance one of those salsas...

I guess on the good side I met a couple new people, and will have new people to dance with on Tuesday night...and tomorrow at the beginners Latin class...that's going to be good.... :)

Regarding snack food, I try to stay out of the habit as much as possible. Even though I am fairly trim for my age (did I just say something positive about myself? I must be slipping), the battle of the bulge has been joined and must be fought.

Though of late I have been ordering flan for desert most of the time.

there have been times where I didn't even feel like going dancing... but the VAST majority of the time I end up glad that I did.

depression... it's not easy and NOT the same as feeling a little glum. I know it's been said... just wanted to reiterate

Affirmations, although they may feel really corny at first, can also help turn things around.

As much as I love hugs I find their comfort to be very temporary (although very comforting in the moment) which leads me to eventually want another hug ... like a hug fix  almost

Jenn... I like your list method
