Where to Start?

Hey everybody, I'm new to the site and to dancing in general. I've never been to a school dance or club and would like to change that because it seems like a lot of fun.

I've been going through the forums a little bit, but my main problem is that I have no idea where to start learning dance. I'm interested in learning all the major types, i.e. salsa, swing, ballroom, freestyle, freakdancing, etc., but I don't really know how to "get my foot in the door." There's not much around where I live in terms of dance studios and I read somwhere that instruction videos aren't the way to go. Anyways, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. nice to meet you all!

Why don't you first start with what is available in your area and then start from there. It's also important that you can practice what you learn.

Why don't you try out a few of the studios? Sometimes they have beginner's packages like how mine did, and you can learn different things that way! You can get a feeling for what they have to offer. Make sure you get a calendar if they have one in case you end up liking more than one studio!;)
