Which dance would work?

I really like the song "I Want to Spend my Lifetime Loving You" from the movie "The Mask of Zorro" sung by Marc Anthony and Tina Arena. Anyone have any thoughts on which dance or dances could work with it?

Rumba, although it will work much better as a choreographed piece rather than social or comp practice music IMO.

How is this rumba? It's so smooth, there's no distinctive slows and quicks. a international foxtrot is a lot more suitable, i think. it sounds very much like one of the those songs the world top standard couples typically do slow foxtrot to for show dances.

I hear strong, explosive ones, hence my suggestion for bolero. As a standard dancer who is tempted to dance a foxtrot to the average rumba, this really does feel like a bolero to me. I couldn't create the rise the music is asking for, in a standard foxtrot. It seems very appropriate in bolero, though admittedly it has to be slowed down. I could see a smooth foxtrot interpretation of that strong one. But music talks to us in different ways, so there isn't necessarily a single right answer.

I agree with you. Victor Fung would have a field day with a song like this.

One of the best dancers at our studio recently did a bolero showcase to this number, and it was absolutely gorgeous. It was beautifully choreographed with some theatre arts moves as well.

Thank you all for your input. I was leaning towards bolero or rumba but was not exactly sure what I was hearing. Still learning how to match particular dances with songs. This song is very beautiful and really moves me-hoping someday to be good enough to do a routine to it.
