Salsa is not included mostly because it does not want to be included. All organized efforts to regulate it or even to certify its instructors have been defeated by the stubborn independence of the Salsa teaching community, by the general derision of the dancing public and most importantly, by Salsa’s continuous and irrepressible evolution, mutation and metamorphosis all of which make the task of proclaiming a style or system as “The Real Thing” that could be used as a competition standard not just hopeless but also useless.
